College Ladies edge Celtic

College ladies edged out Celtic 1-0 in a deceptively close contest on Sunday at Usher Park to maintain their perfect start to the season.

College were the better of the two sides and spurred numerous chances to make the score line more comfortable.

Sienna Kolatowicz twice came close to scoring in the first 20 minutes, sending a shot over the bar then bringing a save from the Celtic keeper with a powerful low drive. But it took a brilliant curling free-kick from Tahlia Fyfe to settle the match after College were awarded a free-kick from just outside the 18 yard box for hand ball.

College continued to have the upper hand in the game but were unable to add to the score line.

"We created some good opportunities and looked quite dangerous on the break," Coach Peter Rakic said. "It's just the final pass or the finish that keeps letting us down. We have done quite well, we just need to put away the chances we create.”
